The Martin Girls

my older sisters, circa 1938 - 1942

Most young boys growing up consider themselves fortunate to have a sister. I had three. My younger sister and I suffered childhood together but my two older sisters had already married and moved out of state by the time I could say their names. They were distant and mysterious - known only by letters, photos, and brief visits. It wasn't until I became an adult that I really got to know them. But by then, they had careers and families of their own and the heady days of their youth were gone.

As I grew older, I began to realize that these two girls were real head-turners. But the pictures from those early days before I knew them lay hidden in boxes, bottom drawers, and put-away photo albums. Now that photos can be shared electronically, it's time to pull them out so I can show off just how attractive these two women were.
